Richard Voight English II H Notes- Catcher in the rye whiskey Holden gets off at Penn Station and decides its just about fourth dimension to give mortal a buzz on the payphone. He ponders the possibilities: his brother D.B., his josh sister Phoebe, Jane G altogetheraghers mother, and fin everyy this young woman Sally Hayes he used to go around with. Sally recently wrote Holden a long, phony letter, the gist of which was an invitation to facilitate trim her Christmas tree. Unfortunately, Sallys mother thinks Holden is tremendous and would have a burst if he called her house, not to invoke shed call Holdens mother and bring out about how hes in unfermented York four days early, which message he got kicked out of school, which his parents dont fare yet. So he ends up not calling anyone. Instead, Holden gets a cab and accidentally gives his crime syndicate address. About halfway there, he remembers he cant go inhabitation until Wednes day. Then he asks the number one wood about the ducks in the lagoon near Central parking lot: he wants to hold up where they go in the winter when the water system freezes over. The driver cant answer. Holden decides that, since this guy is corny, he should act corny, too. He has the driver lay claim him to the Edmont Hotel, and the driver declines Holdens invitation to have a cocktail there. Holden notes that he took his track raft cap off before going into the lobby, so as to not look like a screwball, even though he later found out there were screwballs all over the place. Holden feels bad for the 65-year-old man who carries his suitcases up the room. What a crumby job, he thinks. He looks across to the other side of the hotel and sees distinguished-looking gentleman spoil on womens fine clothing and prancing about in high-heels. In the room above that, he sees a man and a woman squirting water out of their mouths at to each one other. Hol den finds both occurrences to be entirely pe! rverted.
